Tournament Report – A Near Death Experience
by Oliver Mastilero
It’s always my dream to have byes during Grand Prix events like the pro does. Having 3 byes is a big advantage since you only have to win 3 games to make it into day two and have a chance for the money finish as well as get the opportunity to battle with the pros in round 4. That reminds me of my recent Grand Prix experience last March held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia wherein it was very exhausting to duel 8 straight rounds in Day 1. It was the best experience for me being able to make it to day 2 despite not getting the most coveted money finish (Top 64). Read more
Tournament Report: Clash of the Titans
by Oliver Mastilero

The Eldrazi was awakened and last Saturday we experienced a brand new and exciting limited game play of the pastime we love most, Magic the Gathering. Before the event, I was surprised that Wizards released the complete visual spoiler 2 days earlier while previous sets usually have it in public just after the Prerelease. Due to this, it gave us the opportunity to know all the cards prior to the Prerelease event. Read more
The Boros Rush Experience
by Jared Baterna

Warning: This is not a detailed narration of my experience during the Gold Rush but a mere overview of my thoughts and feelings before, during and after the tournament.
A few months back when I decided to start playing Magic again after Mirrodin-Kamigawa-Ravnica, I did what most magic players would do- I searched the internet for the best decks in standard. Obviously, Jund was and still is the deck to beat. Read more
Tournament Report: Spreading Seas Took Me to the Top
by Carl Jason Lira

There would always be a big question about playing this card in the main board. But for me this card has a lot of potential in todays metagame. Since there are lots of multicoloured deck as of now, and to think of JUND is the deck to beat. I’ve made some weird decks in the past but none of them made it in the Finals. Neither top 8 or top 4. The competition here in Iloilo is really tough, knowing that there are lots of good players here. Read more
Tournament Report: Cruel Sphinxes
by Peter Franz Yap

Yowza! Hi guys! It’s my first time writing an article here. Hope you don’t mind my way of writing and making stuff up. Ever since I began entering sanctioned tournament, I have never, ever, not even once, stepped on the most coveted of places for an M:tG player, the TOP 4. Last saturday, October 17, 2009, as luck would have it, was my chance, and was given to me. Read more
Nationals Qualifiers: Revenge of the Fallen
by Oliver Mastilero
Prelude. It was a disappointing finish for me in Regionals at Cebu last May wherein I lost in a match where I believe I had the favor, using BW Tokens deck and playing against the BG Elves. I finished at 12th place and just hope to qualify again for the next year. Read more
A Faerie Tale in Shards (Part Two)
by Patrick Tirol

Hi guys, I’m back! Remember for every Pat there is a “Trick”! Hahahaha! Labutaw nga Joseph. Anyways, I’m happy to say that the Faerie archetype still was able to Top this week’s Tourney. This time I was able to adjust my 2-1-0 match record and games 2-3 wins over Kithkins into a complete sweep. Read more
A Faerie Tale in Shards (Part One)
by Patrick Tirol

Hello Guys! I’m Patrick Tirol and I’ve been an avid pilot of the UB “So Called Top of the Food Chain Deck” Faeries Deck. Since the rotation has stripped me of some of the vital power cards (Ancestral Visions, Damnation, Rune Snag, River of Tears, etc.), I had to think of an innovation that would suit my predicted metagame. Eventide the Odds
by Mark Ian Alloso
Introduction
Finally! I am writing my report for the Eventide Prerelease weekend recently held here in Iloilo. Sorry for the delay guys and gals. My writing mood just kicked in after a few days of blank thoughts. Grrrr… I don’t know why, maybe because of the “Superstar Syndrome”. Lol… Read more

Greetings everyone!
Hello Magic World! I’m Patrick Tirol; I would like to congratulate everyone who joined the Magic the Gathering Regional Tournament in Cebu for a stellar performance. We Iloilo players have something to be proud of; I actually believe that our Ilonggo players have skills and talents that could compete with the international level; given the opportunity, time, and support, we can do wonders. We are just a sleeping giant just waiting to be awakened. So guys keep your heads up, focus on what you want, believe me, it will come! Read more
